FAQ
Q1: What makes the Hoya RHM 14-01 hybrid so special for collectors?
A1: Hoya RHM 14-01 is a coveted collector hybrid bred by Ric & Handobre Moriera (RHM), known for its distinct foliage structure, thick glossy leaves, and delicate silver splashing. Because it is produced in limited quantities, it is a prized addition to any serious Hoya collection.
Q2: How do I know when it is time to water my Hoya RHM 14-01?
A2: Check the substrate through the clear propagation cup or feel the top few inches of soil to make sure it is almost fully dry before watering. Hoyas store water in their thick stems and succulent foliage, making them much more tolerant of slight drying out than overwatering.
Q3: Should I give my Hoya RHM 14-01 a trellis to climb on?
A3: Yes, training your Hoya upward on a moss pole or wire trellis encourages faster growth and larger, healthier leaves! As the active vine attaches and climbs towards light, the node spacing tightens and foliage size increases significantly.
Q4: What potting soil mix is best for repotting a Hoya RHM 14-01 in Australia?
A4: Use an airy, well-draining epiphytic mix made of chunky orchid bark, perlite, pumice, and charcoal. This mimics their natural canopy environment, allowing air to circulate around the roots and reducing the risk of root rot.
Q5: Why are the new vine tendrils on my Hoya RHM 14-01 bare without leaves?
A5: Long bare tendrils are completely normal and are how Hoyas reach out to search for support and brighter light! Avoid cutting these tendrils back, as leaves will fill out along the stem once the vine secures itself or receives optimal lighting.
